Hey Paul, notice mtnjohnbo has no videos???
Hey Gary, check out my video at Willamette Pass, this is where your trials need to be held. It would show some diversity and IMO you'd see some younger handlers placing. Also, you could run it off foot, horseback or mountain bike. If the US Complete was held here the Mtn Bike would blow the horse away.
You are looking for challenging grounds right???

this trial is a Invational Ch only the the 12 top points dogs in the us are invited to run in this trial. an as far as a mountain bike it woul not work here because your bike can't go through 1 ft of mud and water. we are 6 ft above sea level. may be in your area but these dogs come from all over the us to compete. If you think your dog will compete then you need to run your dogs in some us complete trials. its harder than it looks. good luck ride a trek i do. Gary

I realize your video is of that, your events are foot hunting right? If that guy whos putting on the USC trials out here on the west coast held a event at Willamette Pass it would show some diversity this type of venue would mix up the show, yes it steeper and tough terrain BUT it will give oppertunity for people who run in places other than a field to show something else.
The venue can be rented for 250.00 IMO if your part of the USC then you should push for a event at W. Pass.

What? Very few people will allow a pointing breed to flush. It ends up introducing way too many problems, and I would definitely say it takes A LOT of work to steady a dog to wing and shot.

It is only in the US, as far as I know that the bird dog does not flush at trials. Our dogs flush and then sit as the birds lift. If the trainer has this in order, shooting is never a problem. Look at the video "krutt" that I have posted, and you'll see.

Well, good video, but why don't you let your dogs do their natural instinct and flush their birds???! It is both more estethic, more presise work, and demands much more of the trainer, to keep the dog cool after flush

field trials are a breeders stake. the dogs are not just good hunting dogs but they are well trained. showes Intelligents. and rimber when the dog breaks point when you go in to flush sometimes the dog can get in the way of shooting the bird.

absolut steady at wing is a matter of course when we command our dogs to flush "avance". Not so easy, ho said it shod be easy. Its not a every mans sport.

remember I was on horse back I have a real smoth walking horse. but at times he wants to go on. I usually run dogs in all-age trials and tommy the horse likes to motor to the front.
