In Oct. 2011, we rented a house in the French village of Beynac, in the Dordogne, for a week. At the top of the village sits the Chateau de Beynac, a major site in the Hundred Years' War between England and France. It was held by Richard I (the Lionheart) from 1189-1199. The view from its ramparts, over the Dordogne Valley, is stunning!
