The Educators Committee of SNM's Technologist Section (SNMTS) held a contest for students to develop a "What is Nuclear Medicine" video. The winner was announced during SNM's 57th Annual Meeting, June 5-9, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
@kevinsaxes Well I live in the medical capital so I hope I can find a job once I graduate. It would defeat the whole purpose of me going to school if I can't find employment. Thanks for your response and best of luck to you.
@Lakota505 That's the way it is here in the Pittsburgh area. No jobs and declining patient volume. I can't speak for the rest of the country tho. In Pittsburgh a lot of physicians began to do nuclear stress tests in their offices. Insurance reimbursement changed and it became less profitable so the docs stopped doing it and those techs lost their jobs. So there was a flood of techs looking for work. But like I said that's here in the Pittsburgh area. Hopefully it's different where U are.
Jobs in the Nuclear Medicine field have all but dried up. I've been in the field for over 22 years and we recently had over 40 applicants for one position. Another hospital had nearly 200 for their one position. It's a great field but there's no jobs out there right now.
