They have not confirmed the claims that the engineer was texting anyone yet. The media put that out, without confirming any of it. If you read the whole thing, there was a similar incident in Chigao, where teens claimed to have been texting the engineer, which later came to be false!
Let the NTSB do their jobs, and then worry about placing blame.

why was the metrolink train engineer texting bunch of teenagers in the first place? he got 20 some people killed, this is not a joke!!!

to make it correct....it wasn't 24 people as I read in my city's newspaper.....but 25 people were confirmed dead in this crash

Local government is wasting no time in placing blame. How about a little professionalism and let the NTSB investigate before you all throw the train crew to the wolves.
