I am a wildlife rehabilitator. These are 6 of the squirrels I am taking care of, they are overwintering on my screened porch. Half of them are still pretty tame (from being raised by humans from a young age) so I try to minimize my contact with them to get them to "wild up." It is easy to get squirrels to become wild again, as this is their natural tendency to begin with. These squirrels are enjoying some lettuce in their temporary box on my porch. When they are released they will get a nice wooden house. My daughter has named these squirrels Indigo, Maple, Thistle, Lavender, Mulberry, and Hickory. **Note: These squirrels have all been successfully released and several of them have already built their own "dreys" in the treetops. They are not at all tame anymore and run away if a human (including me!) approaches.**
