Nice video again, First time I did my timing bet I was scare shitless lol. I was back to back reading the hayne book. I compress my tesioner, aligned the belt with the mark. I put a vice grip on the left cam( losse cam) with two towel so I won't damage the belt. Put the last sprocket took the paper clip from the tensioner and boommm the car turn on. Man you should had seem me I was like a kid on disneyland. lol After that day timing belt became a piece of cak to me. I still haven't done DOHC

@mdelegan I've seen everything man! You never know. You're welcome.

@briansmobile1 You think that either of those things could cause it to fail a few thousand miles down the road? Is it common knowledge to press the tensioner super slowly, or would a mech. have to work on subies for a while? I saw the recommendation in the Haynes to take it slow-3 minutes or longer to press (you think he would know that!). Thanks-keep up the great vids!

@hp11208 The DOHC 2.5's are the same the singles are slightly different.

02 impreza is it the same for the timing belt
hey commented on you video on blown head gaskets on these engines. would timing belt being loose throw a code for misfires (specifically 3rd and 4th) and cause general noisiness of engine operation? i have replaced everything dealing with electrical and fuel components to fix this problem

@patricky0 That's usually a bad ignition coil or rod bearings. Obviously I haven't looked at it, but I'd check spark quality 1st.

Brian- do you have a video of a 2.5 DOHC timing belt installation? Need to make sure i don't damage valves when I rotate this motor- also where should crank postion be so if I rotate the cams without the belt on, where should crank position be?

@GDMAZ EVERYBODY asks me that. I made a video on it and I can't find it! It's SUPER SAFE AND EASY. When you have the timing mark on the crank drive gear lined up all four pistons are centered in the stroke/block so you CAN'T mess it up. There is no risk if that crank mark is aligned pointing up to the crank sensor mark.
