Michael Smith from Peavey gives a great demo of the AT-200 Auto-Tune guitar, a collaboration between Peavey and Antares. According to Peavey, the AT-200 "monitors the precise pitch of each individual string and electronically makes any corrections necessary to ensure that every note is always in tune, regardless of variables like finger position or pressure." The technology is said to be "smart enough" to know when you intend to manipulate pitch with bends, etc. In other words, it's not intended to correct missed notes or play a solo for you - it provides exceptional intonation and extremely fast tuning changes. Enjoy the demo, and call Sweetwater at 800.222.4700 if you'd like to know more!

definantly going to be looking into this, im a mid-level guitar player, and knowing that i wouldnt have to deal with the springs and floyd on my Schecter would be so helpful. and for 500.. couldnt really go wrong, just hope it sounds great for metal.

This should be on every mid to upper level guitars!! I only have one question: how does this system works in order to avoid messing with the quality of the guitar sound itself... I have the impression that this digital stuff might spoil the organic sound of a GOOD electric guitar. Someone here has an insight on that? Thanks, and btw AWESOME break thru!

This is completely different from Gibson, it is'nt "physical" tuning, It's like a pitch shifter, an Auto-tune for your guitar.

I played the Variax ... It's junk! It is not the same as those guitars, and if it does what it says for the price range, it will be the future of guitar!!!

Can you simulate any tuning? If so, I'm buying.... Tune down a whole step or mimick a capo on a particular fret etc...?

if the stings are out of tune, it is just doing dsp real time to adjust for out of tune? so when you play the guitar you can still feel out of tune vibration in your hands, but it is all adjusted for by the dsp?
