I admire Delangle's technique, but i'm my opinion there is something almost mechanical (not a good thing) about his playing. and his tone isn't the most admirable thing either.

For all those of you that say it has no swing feel, it's true, but Woods doesn't specify that any part of it has to be either straight or swung. He leaves it all to the performers discretion. Although, looking at the whole thing from a jazz perspective, it is considerably lacking anything of that influence.
But what bugs me is either this guy doesn't know the piano part at all, or the pianist doesn't know the sax part, so many times they get out of time with each other. It's just criminal.

I love Delangle, but I was really sorprised to listen the lack of swing playing this piece. Although he is amazing.

his solo is nearly a verbatim of john harles solo. Harle is far superior on this. Delangle is prob my fave saxophonist today however

To me, Delangle's Phil Woods Sonata is in the same category as Marsalis' Ibert Concertino. Technically great, but the style isn't quite there.

And? he can be the best classical saxophonist in th world but he's not for this, e can't feel the swing, do you listen some jazz in this interpretation? he can play every concertinos and that kind of stuff but in this kind of music there is no feel by him
