Reporter Tim Estiloz recounts the infamous and deadly 1921 Tulsa, Oklahoma Race Riot... a little known and tragic chapter in our nation's history. Estiloz tells the story of the riot in detail and "on the scene" recollections. This infamous and deadly tragedy is one of the nation's little known sad chapters in our troubled history of race relations. The riot began with a false accusation of rape... and led many white residents of 1921 Tulsa to descend upon and literally burn, kill and destroy... a once-thriving black populated section of Tulsa called Greenwood. This area was - before the riot - so prosperous that it was known as the "Black Wall Street". The carnage was unbelievable and the effects still resonate today. This video - first broadcast on TV in 1997 - includes recollections of eyewitnesses to the tragedy, historians and incredible film footage and photos shot of the burning buildings and carnage - as it was happening. This story continues on You Tube with the title "1921 Tulsa Race Riot: Survivors & Descendants Recall - PART TWO".

This story was co-produced by Tim Estiloz. Estiloz is now an entertainment reporter for CN8 - The Comcast Network.

  • Not that far from where I live, the blacks and the Mexicans fight each other.

  • ... I believe these days - people of all races and class - even differing opinions are fighting each other.

    It is a sad time.

  • damn....white people can be very very cruel, they are the real savages

  • Savagery comes in many colors...

... but yes - THIS was a clear example of how far to the extreme racism can go.

    God bless.

  • It does not matter if all the decendants have passed. ALL BLACKS WOULD HAVE BENEFITTED FROM THE ADVANCEMENTS MADE BY THESE BLACK PROFESSIONALS. Do you realize how far along blacks would be if they had been allowed to continue with their great progress? Do you wonder why it is not in your highschool history books? EVERY PUBLIC SCHOOL IN THE USA SHOULD TEACH THIS, AND IT SHOOULD BE MANDATORY LEARNING FOR ALL BLACK CHILDREN. The Christians will teach them the lie about a White Jesus...

  • not so my friend.. the tulsa burnings is still taking place even to this day but in differant ways. things like not giving blacks loans to start businesses when foreigners and whites get loans very easily and other things like redistricting the city and purposely charging black business men higher prices for goods - forcing them to sell at a higher price than their competitors which lead to business failures and many other things too numerous to mention. we are a people in captivity

  • It happened

  • Why ask whites to do something they are incapable of doing.. Which is to arrest their bloodthirst.. You just be PREPARED for when it goes down again, for it will.

  • Why implore whites to do something they simply cannot do? Which is stop being bloodthirsty and delusional?

  • Pretty much.

  • You are an idiot.. The U.S. dropped bombs on Tulsa I guess slavery never eisted either, huh? Anything to alleviate your white guilt.. It happened just admit that you do not give a shyt that it did happen.
