Ribbon (cable) cutting at i3 Detroit

Royal Oak mayor Jim Ellison uses an oxyacetylene cutting torch to perform our ribbon-cutting, officially opening i3 Detroit, southeast Michigan's premier hacker space.

The "ribbon" was 40-conductor ribbon cable. Watch how the insulation self-extinguishes as soon as it moves away from the flame!

The best part? Just before starting the recording, he commented "Ooo, it's been years since I've had a torch like this in my hands!". He later commented that it was the most unique ribbon-cutting he'd ever done!
