@s032656a Actually, they do want to look pale. The paler the skin, the more beautiful the woman. It's an ancient belief that's still rather present in quite a few countries. Farmers worked on fields and were exposed to the sun while the wealthy stayed indoors.

The whiter the skin, the higher the person's social-class is. They even have whitening salons in Asia, the exact opposite of tanning salons. Take it from someone with Japanese friends ;)

@24morningstar Fully depends on your skin-tone/color. I'm a natural pale-skinned European, meaning freckles and an easily reddened face. My face is always a tad darker than my neck because of it.

And there's most certainly a difference, the bad lighting just isn't exactly helping.
