The Canadian equestrian community was left reeling Sunday after the sudden death of Hickstead, the legendary stallion that helped Eric Lamaze win a pair of Olympic medals at the 2008 Beijing Games.
Hickstead died during a World Cup event after collapsing to the ground and writhing in pain inside a packed arena.
Veterinarians attempted to revive the horse but its lifeless body was later carried out of the ring as stunned fans at the Rolex FEI event looked on. Hickstead was 15.
"He was the best horse in the world. We are all devastated."

I made this video to pay my respects to a truley amazing horse who sadly left us last sunday.
I realize the video is not great, but thats not what this one is about, it is about respecting an amazing team and a horse that will never leave our hearts ♥

@deepdiistance Some people believe steroids made Hickstead die, so she was saying that because he died from drugs it would help the producers of those steroids be more careful with what they make

hes in a safe place now, meadows full of harmless grass jumps to jump like theres no tommorow, carrots and apples to munch on all day. R.I.P hickstead you have been the greatest thing this world has had :( <3
