This is how I remember dad, chopping away at his Fender King Rhythm guitar. He is great! Joe Livoti is no slouch either!

  • I am Joe Livoti's daughter, Sylvia. This is so enjoyable to watch. I sang on the show while my dad was with L.Welk. It was such a special time for me. My dad was the consumate violinist. A true artist. He taught me so much. I really miss him, It's so nick to see him when ever I want on UTube,

  • Hello Sylvia,

I remember your father with great affection! What a consummate musician. He studied at the Boston Conservatory, didn't he? My dad still loves your dad and speaks of his musicianship constantly!

    Warmest Regards,

    Mark LeVang (Neil's son)

  • @momsfudge59 your neil levang son

  • @doubletrouble467 Yes I am. Nice to meet you here on YT

  • Mark, was your dad ever a Fender endorser? He is playing an old Fender Kingman here, and I have seen him playing Telecasters, Stratocasters, and Jazzmasters. Does he still have all these neat old Fender guitars?

  • Yes he was. Unfortunately, someone stole most of the collection in 1974 out of the Lawrence Welk touring truck in Northridge, CA. Fortunately, the Telecaster in this video and his Fender King were in the trunk of his car. I still have them and cherish em!

  • My name is Robert Livoti and I am the son of Joe Livoti. My dad died about 9 years ago. He would of really ejoyed the internet and see all the videos such as this one with Neil LeVang. My mom still lives in Studio City and she will be 92 in June. She loves to watch this video and I thank Neil Le Vang's son for posting the video. I use to work on the Lawrence Welk show as a Page and knew all of the Welk Family. It was a different world then, much has changed.

Mark, I've become a great fan of your Dad's work through youtube (starting with the amazing rendition of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" from LW) Can you direct me to someplace I can find his music on CD or for download? I'm not sure which albums showcase his work best, but I would love to start collecting! What an amazing artist.

  • Great video! Mark, if you see this, please tell your dad he has a huge fan in San Francisco. I watch for him on every Lawrence Welk rerun. He always has that twinkle in his eye like he's just heard a good joke and he can't wait to tell it. I hope he is in good health and enjoying his well-deserved retirement.

  • I can't believe this. I have just retired my guitar. I couldn't really play it anyway.

  • Incredible.
