God Believes In You - Jill Phillips

Yes, I believe in God, but it's good to know that God believes in me as well. The Son of Man has experienced all the joys and sorrows that come with living life on earth. He knows just what we're going through and He'll go through it with us. My hope is in God. Friends recently lost their troubled son to suicide. Even when his feet left the bridge, God was with him. He is safe with God now. Still, I hope that we all learn that the troubles of life are temporary in light of eternity. Yes, we will suffer but we have a Savior familiar with suffering. It is through suffering that we are refined like gold, made to be a glorious offering to the One who loves us so. In a fallen world, we are here to lift Jesus up so all may be drawn to him.

I think we're just debating semantics. To me the song is simply saying that God believes that we are worth the sacrafice of His only son. Even in the times when we think our life is barely worth living we can be assured that it is of great value to the Creator if the universe.

An earthly father believes in his children, how much more would our perfect, full-of-love father in heaven believe in his children. It is such an encouraging song and so humbling.

@TIMDAVISPRAISE Oh I totally agree with the first part of what you say. But it's because he loved us - not because he believed in us - that we are saved. There is a big difference between the word love and belief. That is why, in the Bible, you won't find a single verse that says that God believes in humanity. Nowadays, the expression "God believes in you" is synonymous to "Believe in yourself" for many people. These ideas might be pretty and make good, poetic lyrics, but they aren't biblical.

I don't see how it's not Biblical. " But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." Rom 5:8 - Obviously He believed in us before we ever believed in Him
