KATMANDU, Nepal — Nepalese police detained dozens of Tibetan exiles protesting in front of the Chinese diplomatic mission in Katmandu on Thursday.
Police official Ramesh Thapa said more than 120 Tibetans were detained because they were demonstrating in an areas where protests are prohibited.
The Tibetans gathered outside the Chinese Embassy visa office in Katmandu shouting slogans against China.
"We want a free Tibet. Tibet belongs to Tibetans," they chanted before being taken away to detention centers.
Tibetan exiles in Nepal have been staging frequent protests to show their support for the unrest that erupted in Tibet's capital in March.
