i got a dermoid cyst when i was pregnent. and i grew so fast with my baby .. during ultrasound of baby i looked two heads. during delivery the cyst grew 6*7inchs. then after 3months of delivery the doctor removed the cyst with my falopian tube, they said that cyst kept growing that consumed my tube. by this i lost left overies.
I had my left ovary removed when I was 7 years old; because of a dermoid tumor, teratoma...I have two children thank God!! About 5 years ago I had another teratoma removed from my right ovary, unfortunetely it's growing again. I need to see the gyn specialist to see what's going to happen now, hopefully they don't have to remove my only ovary..
@AuroraSpivey - Are you still able to have children? If you don't want to share personal information, I understand, so if this is too intimate, please disregard this. In any case, I hope everything is fine with you now.
My friend had one, and doctors just removed the entire ovary, but she still has the other, and she's still fertile. Many people think that once you have one ovary removed, the chances of pregnancy are reduced by 50%, but ... not true. The body adapts trememdously.
well if theyremoved the cist wall then any type of cist shouldn't grow back...in that spot. So if there is a next time, i'd get the cist removed intact so that they get everything out. Luckily when I had my surgery they removed my whole left ovary because they feared that the cist would grow back.....so now theres no chance of it. I hope the results come back clear!!! good luck
they only drained it because they didnt have consent to make a larger incision to take it out..i thought that was what i signed for! I get my pathology results in 2 weeks and another appointment to find out exactly what they did.Iv read that Dermoid cists must be removed , either intact (which would involve a bigger incision) or drained and the removing the cist wall. I am quite angry i have no idea what the surgeon has done!
Dermoid cysts, in any location, are not caused by being over weight. They are structures present at birth, and are caused when skin and skin structures become trapped during fetal development. Other kinds of ovarian cysts, such as those that develop due to polycystic ovarian syndrome, PCOS, often are the CAUSE of a woman's weight gain due to hormonal imbalances, as when you have elevated levels of testosterone.
I had a Dermoid cist drained today from my ovaries and although it was 5cm it was not there because i am over weight! i am usually 8 and half stone and very toned

Nice video :) I had 2 of these removed . I`m amazed by the technique and the skills of the surgeons. Almost no scars, and quick healing.

@007chica
well your very lucky that it just needed to be drained. as for the cysts that I had it was because I was diagnosed with PCOS.
And It had nothing to do with saying anyone was over weight. I should have explained better that it had to do with having PCOS sorry
