Karl Richter plays the Partite diverse sopra, Sei gegrüßet, Jesu gütig, BWV 768 at the Silbermann orgel of Freiberg Dom.

This great Silbermann of Freiberg, is the first organ that Karl Richter played when he was a young boy.

1. Chorale
2. Variation I
3. Variation II
4. Variation III
5. Variation IV

Due to the limited amount of photos that are available of the console of Freiberg's Silbermann I substituted one at 06:55.

The wonderful nature photography is by David Beaty, please visit his deviantART gallery here, http://davincipoppalag.deviantart.com/

  • I really hate to critique, but it is "die Orgel" not "das Orgel". Otherwise, thank you for posting this divine piece of music!

  • Die orgel? Isn't that Dutch? But I now realize what I really should have wrote was "An der Orgel"

  • Dear advisor: it is not DUTCH but GERMAN. Dutch means: from Holland!! This mistake is often made because in German it is"auf Deutsch"which sounds as "Dutch". But you are right in one way: the word for "Orgel" is the same in the Netherlands: het orgel. Bedankt voor je reactie!!

  • I'm referring to the word "die".

  • Karl Richter was the master

  • Great version of BWV 768 (=2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*3)

evidently, the Anglo-Saxons didn't distinguish between their cousins on the continent.

  • Yes I understand, I was just explaining the difference between "Dutch"and "Deutsch", that's all.

  • please do, the Passacaglia is sheer heaven with Karl playing.
