On February 24, 2009 the Communications Workers of America began contract negotiations with AT&T, the largest union employer in America. This rally took place in Oakland, Ca and is only a beginning.
AT&T made $12.8 billion in profit last year alone. This is a $2.5 billion increase over the previous year! They can afford to bargain in good faith. Workers expect to be going forward, not back. Healthcare is a human right that needs to be extended to everyone, not removed from anyone!
CWA workers were joined by community allies on the picket line, including workers from many area unions and the leadership of the Alameda Central Labor Council.
CWA Will Strike If Provoked!
