Y&R 1986 : Katherine Chancellor remembers part of being confronted by Jill 10 years earlier

In 1986,Katherine revowed to avenge Jill for her late husband Phillips death,and probably for some other things as well coz there is much more that made up the bad history between these 2.
Several bottles later and Jill Foster was shot and Katherine was the number 1 suspect...
In the 70s portion of this,Jill left the hospital and moved herself out of the humble working class home her hardworking mother had raised her in and moved into the stately Chancellor home.
She proclaimed herself as Mrs Chancellor to her family as she had married Phillip on his deathbed and the Chancellor home was now hers.
In an ugly court battle to win her home back,Katherine,who was still recovering from the crash testified that she had been coerced into signing the divorce papers whilst under the influence of alchohol.Eventually the judge ruled in Katherines favour and Jill was no longer recognised as Mrs Phillip Chancellor.
Jill had to leave the estate and it was returned back to Katherine.

Then came an attempt by Katherine to get custody of baby Phillip,during which an argument between Jill and Katherine turned into a physical tug of war resulting in the baby being dropped in court.
Fortunately the baby wasn't injured

Jill who'd been offered 1 million dollars from Katherine for custody,instead petioned the court for part of Phillips estate to go to
their son Phillip Chancellor III,but the court rejected it.

Full of spite,Jill then hired a man whos voice sounded like the late Phillips to make phonecalls to Kay and convince her he was still alive in the hope of driving her back to the bottle,which Jill succeeded in doing.

Further down the storyline,Jill also married Katherines next husband Derek Thurston after a fire,it was believed,had taken Katherines life.Jill,who couldn't have cared less that Katherine was dead,had the Chancellor wealth that Derek had inherited, at her disposal she thought on the day she married Derek.
However when Katherine walked in on them in bed celebrating on their wedding night,Jills sudden screams of ghostly terror were followed by the realisation her dreams were dashed after which Katherine threw her out!

After a failed marriage to wealthy Stuart Brooks,Jill set her sights on another wealthy Genoa city entreprenuer.

Wealthy lonely John Abbott and his ex-wife Deena were good friends of Katherines and when Jill and John married,Katherine was all out to expose her large bossomed millionaire seeking arch enemy once again.
The opportunity came when photos of Jills sex romp with stepson Jack Abbott,played then by the late Terry Lester,were sold to Katherine who revealed them to John. Jills eviction from the Abbott home and catered for lifestyle soon followed.

A brief Jill and Katherine Y&R history review:
-Jill worked as a beautician at a salon
-She wins the trust of a rich and powerful reclusive alchoholic customer Katherine Chancellor who later hires her as her paid companion.
-Thanks to Katherines alchoholism,Jill and Katherines husband Phillip offer support to each other then fall in love.
-Phillip learns Jill is pregnant with his child and decides to divorce Kay.He flies to the Dominican Republic and obtains a quickie divorce then rushes back to Genoa city to marry Jill.
-Katherine who by now has stopped drinking and is attending AA meetings picks Phillip up at the airport.She seems collective but while driving she loses it and goes into a heightened emotional state begging Phillip to give her another chance and not to leave her for Jill.
-Katherine loses control of the car and it careens off a cliff.
They are rushed by ambulance to hospital.Katherine sustains serious injuries and Phillip is in a critical condition.
-Phillip regains consciousness and whilst still in intensive care marries Jill at the hospital.
-Phillip dies and a greif stricken Jill falls apart screaming whilst her brother Dr Snapper Foster holds her in an embrace.
-Jill pulls herself together and visits Katherine who is recovering in another part of the hospital.Both women blame each other for Phillips death...

In all these storylines mentioned,Jill was played by Brenda Dickson.
In the 80s,before being fired from the show,Brenda won Peoples Choice Award for best daytime villainness,presented to her by Susan Lucci.

What a clip. Kay looks older in 1976 than she does now. I love Jess Walton but I can see why Brenda Dickson had so many fans.

I love these old clips of Brenda Dickson.I had a lot of these clips recorded on video tape when I was younger but unfortunately they were damaged.If only we had dvd-r's back then

kay was jealous of jill because she had beauty and youth. jill became hateful towards katharine because  she envied her wealth and power. deep down both these women i believe truly loved each other. they were just too stubborn to admit their owen imperfections

i used to feel  for kay chancellor when i heard about the kay-phillip-jill storyline. however, i changed my mind. katharine always blamed jill for the destruction of her marriage but the old bag never understood she was the she herself was the culprit! She was promiscuous (sleeping with her stableboys), and a miserable and hateful lush. I she truly cared about phillip as she had claimed she would've got help years before

No one can ever really replace the Original Jill Foster. She created the Role and played it the best way possible. Jess Walton is awesome but you cannot help feel something is missing when Katherine and the Jess Walton's Character Jill square off. It says a lot about Brenda Dickson's Portrayal of Jill. They had many yrs together and some great scenes that were the foundation of the Y&R as we know it. I miss the old Jill
