Peter Lorre - Mr. Moto goes berserk

In "Mr. Moto takes a vacation", the last instalment of the series, there was a Professor Heinrich von Kleinroth of Vienna in the very beginning of the episode. The character shown here looks like an earlier, and definitely wackier incarnation of that character -- it certainly allowed Peter Lorre to let off steam from the corseting persona of Mr Moto, and here Peter lets it all off full blast. His performance of an old Viennese nutcase is hysterically funny.

Translation below:

Prof: "Can any of you dung-flies here tell me how come we are expected to pay good money for this nonsense? This exhibition is an insult to the name of art! Zum kotzen!" (vomitable)
Museum guy: "If you don't like it please leave!"
Prof: "Good painters go hungry, while this trash here finds buyers....Zum speien!" (spittable)
...
Prof: "I'll have a look around, maybe I'll find something better."
Museum guy: "Good, but keep quiet, or else out with you!"
...
David: "Nice little show you have here".
Prof (mumbling): "Really, that's absolutely the most hideous (thing) I've ever seen in my life! This is but the scribble of a crazed child! Sickening!"
David: "I gather you don't care for the painting"
Prof: "Painting?" *grunt* "Das ist not a painting! Das ist disgusting, repugnant, and kitsch!"

Lorre was a great actor and never really got the recognition he deserved for his craft. His performance in M is astounding, he makes you feel almost sorry for him.
