From http://www.kevincaron.com - Artist Kevin Caron often uses a plasma cutter when cutting metal. Using a fresh cutting tip helps him make clean, precise cuts. Kevin shows how to change the tip and shows the difference between a cut with a dirty tip and one with a clean one.

  • Hi Kev,

How do you know when you are using too much air pressure?

  • @haxby2008 The cut gets ragged and you get a lot of slag everywhere.

  • lol, cuts look exactly the same

  • @VisorBlue It depends! they can last a long time or a short time depending on how well you use it.

Often, people try gouging metal with a plasma cutter and end up getting metal into the tip. Or they run too much air or not enough air. There are lots of things that folks do to kill their consumables.

  • @steveo928 That is a Pine Hill anvil. We had a blacksmith school that closed and sold off all their tools. Found this in the back room.
