it does sound like a rod knock. I recently had a friend whos 4.6 started out like this and eventually gave out. His was a rod bearing going out cause the dumbass didnt check the oil. However the timing chain guides may brake and cause the chain to slap around in some metal pieces and make this noise when rpm is droping. Get it checked out soon.
