Isn't that a cheetah??? Not leopard.
-
what if those quills has a neurotoxin shit..
-
I thought that most predators give porcupines a wide berth, guess it's usually the older, more experienced ones that know better. Porcupines are waaaaaay more trouble than they're worth, messing with one once will pretty much guarantee you won't do it again.

honeybadgers are smart enough not to attack it, also honeybadgers are fearless
-
Porcupines are disgusting anyway, so why not give the cat a hand with a magnum?

@jackhbradford - If you watch carefully - It did - twice - one in the paw and one in the face.

Play is essential for young animals, however, this leopard was not simply playing. The leopard has either learnt or instinctivly knows that porcupines can be dangerous. Leopards stay with their mothers for approx. 12 months before they move off (solitary) although some do spend an additional 6 months or so sharing moms knowledge and kills. This leopard is an adult leopard (albeit young) and certainly made a wise decision in the end.

i have seen footage where u have a double KO, the leopard kills the porcupine but it has numerous quills trapped in its mouth which leads to an infection and death.

Leopards want food - food want's to survive - For me, it's always a wonderful example of how animals have had to adapt in order to stay alive long enough to ensure another generation of - either porcupine or leopard!
I walked into a mess the other other day - quills all over the place, and a discarded carcass of a porcupine - the marks on the ground suggested lion - the quills on the ground showed a real struggle. The Kruger always shows great lessons.

Thanks for the comments thatha1889 - I will be uploading several videos during the next few weeks - all fantastic accounts of animal behaviour - I added a dominance display of a Nyala bull the other day - worth watching as it too is a rare piece of footage.
