Notes:

For Badgeholders Only
or
SGT Pages Badgeholders Club

is a bootleg recording of a rock concert by English band Led Zeppelin, performed on June 23, 1977 at the Los Angeles Forum in Los Angeles, California, a show which came towards the end of the band's 1977 North American concert tour.

Like the better-known Listen to This Eddie this concert was recorded by a member of the audience, Mike Millard, and was later released illegally on vinyl and CD without the permission of the band.

The title For Badgeholders Only most likely comes from Robert Plant's numerous references to "Badgeholders" throughout the concert. For example, before performing "Trampled Under Foot", Plant asks "Is there anybody on the spotlights who could find us a badgeholder?"

An excellent show ... a famous Badge Holders show due to Plant's several dedications to the badge holder people ... with the whole band firing on all cylinders! It is the only known show from 1977 tour when the band stopped after the first song. The peculiar stop is brief and Robert doesn't offer any hints. Perhaps a guitar change was neccessary. Jimmy's soloing during Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, and Ten Years Gone in particular, is amazing. Keith Moon joins in to make this already classic show legendary in stature. Just listen for a very crazed sounding yelling over the beginning of Bonham's drum solo: "The best rock and roll drummer in the world ... living today! Mr John Bonham! With Buddy Rich's arms!" He says more after that, but I can never quite make out just what it is because he seems to trail off into a noise of swearing and yelling, which conjures up cartoon images of the Tazmanian Devil or even (perhaps more appropriately) Animal from the Muppets. But that's Keith Moon for you! He also appeared before the encores. "LA. It's been very funny. Good night!" and the show was over.

  • much better in Scorpio

  • This might be the best piece they have ever performed. All 4 of them are stop on. My all time favorite song:)

"Since" is a showpiece song and this is easily the best version I've ever heard.

  • @zoso1978

I think that 'chorus effect' you're hearing is actually a result trying to sync up two different sources...I don't remember hearing that effect on the Mike Mallard tape alone. Good catch though.

  • This is "real" blues, the version from The Song Remains the Same is simply a reiteration of the emotionless studio version.

  • sounds like this show he has a chorus effect on or something that I don't notice on another night from '77. '73 was prob the best all the way around but this real good the "later years"

  • Song Remains The Same maybe?

  • YEP!!!!

  • #1 ............Forever and ever!

  • I bought this boot on vinyl in the '80s, and it is still one of my all-time favorites.

You will never hear a better version of SIBLY than this one...this is about as REAL as the blues gets. Page's tone is amazing.

  • Thanks for uploading these songs. 5*
