Jack Vance is a science fiction / fantasy author. He also has written some mysteries, and the novel "Bad Ronald", on which the cult tv-movie of the same name is based.

He was interviewed in November 12th, 1976 for the radio program "Hour 25". I'm sorry for the poor sound quality.

This is part 8 of the interview (out of 12).

  • Agreed about the first questioner, but what do you expect from a Trekkie, even thirty years ago ;)

Around 2:00 I kind of resent that the host says that Vance is "lucky enough" to make a living at it.

Vance is so talented that he's acquired me as a devoted follower, even though this interview was given 5 years before I was even born. Vance probably bristled at it too, since he wants to be viewed on his merit: not his genre, or anything else.

Authors are not "lucky enough" to be successful.

  • Wow, the first questioner is far out there!

    2nd questioner, zzz

3rd questioner actually asks about vance's work, and gets a detailed response.
