What a hard start! It makes you realize how having the biggest car batteries you can find in place is only a good thing! (I'm half afraid of some of the comments that I'm sure will be coming on this video...) Ah well, at least we got it going again!

  • holy shit spicolli...its a compliment bro

  • @MrDylandobson What's a compliment? To whom are you replying?

  • Are you going to cold start the game sierra this year. What's wrong with it.

  • The injection system seems to be having trouble. I'm not sure where the problem is yet. I don't have a lot of diesel engine experience other than regular care and feeding. It'll start, but it's very very hard to get it to do so.

  • And what happened to the Lumina. What football team do you want to win the play offs. I want the Green bay parker's to win. If they do i will be very happy.

  • Whoa man...slow down a bit! You can't get an answer if I haven't signed in and seen your comment or question! :-)

The Lumina got traded for a Reliant station wagon. That's covered in another video.

Don't care about football (or other sports) in the slightest.

  • That old thing has some POWER!

  • Many years ago, we drove an 87 Dodge from central Indiana to the north Chicago suburbs without an alternator. It took 2 batteries, but the 1st went most of the way so the 2nd wasn't anywhere close to dead yet.

They'll run longer that way than people think. That was a carbureted gas van w/ ECM.

I know somebody recently who drove a newer fuel injected V8 car for an hour w/o alternator, and it wasn't showing any sign of dying yet. But I expect it wouldn't go quite as far as that carbed van did.

  • We have a 1989 gmc 3500 455 big block dually the fuel tank switch went bad or well we thought. We had one tank full TANK 2 ( the one we couldent get it to switch to) and the other one almost empty TANK 1.We finnaly discovered if you flip switch back and forth repeatedly then try it on tank one to work ,yet not on tank 2, any thoughts anybody

  • @aly369 I think that was a little nissan truck, no match for a real truck like this

  • Hey, In my town I live in we have a gmc sierra just like the one in that video. I asked the dealer to start it up it took a while because it hasn't ran for a while. Plus the carburetor was removed. They managed to find a carburetor that fits the truck and it fired right up with new diesel fuel.

  • Are you ever going to replace the bed on that truck

  • Reminds me of the car out of toy story....

  • That truck has become A mobile engine stand . R u s t ! Before U tube i never knew cars and trucks rusted like that . how long after a car is new does it start to rust ? 5 years ? 10 ? 20 ? and after it starts does it eat it up real fast ?
