Dulmatin, a senior member of Jemaah Islamiah, the armed Southeast Asian Muslim group, has reportedly been killed by Indonesian police.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indonesia's president, confirmed the news of the death during a visit to Australia on Wednesday.

Dulmatin was allegedly the bomb-maker in the 2002 Bali nightclub attack, which killed around 202 people, mostly tourists.

The man long regarded as one of Southeast Asia's "most wanted terrorists", was said by police to have died during a shootout at an internet cafe in Jakarta.

Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports.
