"I wanna walk through Sodom with a boy on my arm
Who's so damn pretty I don't know where I am
When they look so like a girl it's easy to swallow
And it's one notch on my arm towards a broader tomorrow
And if the future's looking grim
I can just take hold of him
And say!
'Nothing out of our loins, sweetie
Will ever see the light of day'
So weep in a way and rejoice in another
We'll never feel the pain of being a mother
We can only be happy to say that 'We're brothers!' "

  • Thanks for posting TLEB. I saw them in Brighton in late 85 or early 86 at the Zap. It was the loudest gig I've ever been to: they just kept adding guitarists to the line up throughout the gig (well, that's how I remember it anyway). It was fantastic. Thanks!

  • @simonf99 I don't believe they got up to all these wonderful things yet barely anyone seems to know who they are.

  • i've been searched this song in ten years or more.

i heard it on tv using b.g.m. for Helmut Lung's show.

and a few months before i got it finally!

    anyway this tune is amazing.

    thank u for posting.

    from japan.

  • It's a pleasure.

  • it's troubling how something so powerful has been heard by so few. loved this for 25 years. the guitar work is perfect. live footage would be superb!

  • When a stray NME found its way onto my lap a few years ago I found it was making waves in some club somewhere. Other than that, RE live videos I'll try and find myself a prototype time machine whenever I can. :(

  • Yes indeed - A powerfully bizarre song as easy to swallow then as now. Many thanks ThatlovelyEnglishBob. So good to hear it again after all these years. When they look so like a girl it's easy to swallow is surely one of the most illuminating lines ever written and worthy of Shakespeare himself don't you think?. A wonderful composition sung with such clarity, style, authority and originality with shades of Coward, Genet and Burroughs to the lyrics. Great album cover too....Cheers!

  • @entraildivider yep, I remember the gig in Antwerp, Belgium and I also went to the gig in Goes, Netherelands the next day.Great gigs, both of them. I probably still have pictures of thse gigs somewhere but as I move a couple of times since then, I'm sure I still have those but there're probably in a box on the attic somewhere. Loved the band, still have the original vinyl records. All the best !

  • Hi, I was a guitarist in the band when it reformed in 1992. We played Belgium and Holland in 1993 - are they the gigs you're referring to?

  • does anybody have the whole lyric of the song? thanks for posting

  • Bloody fucking brilliant!

  • Morrissey is using this great song for his pre-gig music

  • PURE GENIUS...

  • A fantastically perverse and wonderful song. One of the very few that the late and very great John Peel refused to play more than once. File under 'Corrupting influence music' Honestly, how fucking great is this?
