I still don't understand why manufacturers starting with a blank design sheet and trying to sell early generations of cars come up with something that looks like the Sparrow. The tooling to make these cars costs the same whether it looks like a Porsche or a POS so why not come up with a sexy design to help promote EV's and generate some desire in the marketplace.

@gazfish123 I agree - couldn't they fit these components into something that looks like a convertible mini-cooper or something? Even that would please more eyes than the current design. Part of the answer might be that the U.S. government requires stringent crash testing of all "cars"; that is, anything with four wheels. Startups that don't have the millions required to do all this testing can make something with three wheels and the government categorizes it as a motorcycle.

@gazfish123 The other way you see small companies get around the testing requirements is to artificially limit the vehicle to 25 mph, which I understand put it in a special class without the testing requirements.
