The Kit Kat Girls (Claire Ferensowicz, Emma Meade, Kate Jopson, Jasmin Pamukcu, Rachel Warner, and Maura Tang) perform "Don't Tell Mama," lead by Sally Bowles (Jessica Goldman) from the production of CABARET at the University of California- Berkeley.

UC Berkeley is the #1 public institution in the country and while the city of Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay Area are major arts epicenters, the school itself does not offer a musical theatre program, department, or even a class.

Student Zi Alikhan directed this production for Cal's Barestage Productions, a student operated organization on campus. All of the actors are undergraduates, but many have professional theatre credits.

Enjoy, and be kind!

  • Are you thick she said at the beginning of the song that he mum thinks she is living in a convent that's were nuns live and thats why she has the cross on. Listen to the words before you make judgement on a fantastic song and dance.

  • First production I've seen with some lively interaction on the "You could tell my Papa..." verse. It's a refreshing new take that saves the family member references from merely being a list to rattle on.

    Superbly done. :D

  • Definitely the best vocals on youtube

  • The song starts with "Mama thinks I'm living on a convent", so the cross is a parody of living in a convent.

  • Favorite one I have found online. Right on. Good job.

  • What's with the crosses??? Really tacky choice. Shame on this director.

  • Wow, great stuff. You all have really good stage presence. I really like your interpretation of the song/text and your choices of vocal tone Jessica

  • i loved it :D

    xxxxxxx

  • But at the same time, the dance is supposed to be both purposefully poor (it is in a seedy cabaret) and sleezy. The chair -- which has been used here before -- is often effective in communicating the provactive feel without becoming too cheap. There is a fine line in that and, personally, the dancing here seems to lugubrious to be taken as inviting.

  • The Emcee is Soooooooooo Talented.
