Congressman Garamendi brings nearly four decades of public service to the House Armed Services and Natural Resources committees. He has served as a Peace Corps volunteer, California's state majority leader, deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior, and California's insurance commissioner. The son of a World War II major, Garamendi is the author of H.R. 3860, the Help Veterans Return to Work Act.
