@kevinx45 for a 5 step, the first step is just an extra...i use a 5 step approach, and i use the first step to set myself up, after that it's just like the 4 step approach....whether this is the correct way of using the 5 step idk, but it's imo..
My daughter has been pulling left for weeks. Can't wait to share this video with her, and try this out at practice. (And yes, I'll be practicing it, too!)

I take 3 steps with my right foot forward so I push off with my left. It's just like basketball. O:

I think it all depends on what you feel most comfortable with. I have late timing with little backswing and no slide. It's working alright.
