gorta was recently the recipient of a cheque for €310, money raised by the pupils of Gaelscoil an tSlí Dála from the proceeds of the sale of their home produced seven-minute-long film "An Gorta Mór".
The film, links Ireland's 19th century famine to the present day. It opens with a young child collecting for Gorta ouside church. He is approached by an old lady who takes the child back in history to famine times.
On the last day of term, Kevin Higgins, President of gorta and Liz Gowing, manager of the gorta charity shop in Portlaoise visited the school to view the film and to receive the cheque.
Mr. Higgins complimented the children on their efforts and praised them for thinking of the less fortunate.
