Is what a hoax? The accident may have been 20 years ago and the area is still radioactive, hence the exclustion zones. As the ecological tour only lasts for a couple of hours, apparently the amount of radiation you are exposed to is not high enough to cause any damage.

Point taken - it was a cool place to visit, but the camera work could have been better. In my defence, it was a basic camera and my mate Andy filmed it and he was pretty hungover after too much Ukrainian vodka!

Cool thanks. How did you go there anyway? I saw they had tours of the place and was thinking about going. Although it looks as like you got some VIP treatment, being in a van and not a bus of tourists. Don't you have to get special permission to get through?

We organised a tour via SAM Travel Company in Ukraine. It's definately worth visiting though it is a strange and unsettling experience.
You need to get an zone access permit which they also arrange. For this they will need your passport details and then your passport will be checked at the checkpoint to the exclustion zone.
