It's an interesting discussion. But I think, every composer is a child of his time. And at the time of CPE Bach, people were tired of all this complicated and incomprehensible *lol* music, so easy listening music came into fashion. A bit superficial, but nice and entertaining to listen, while having dinner and small talk :-) Beethoven brought music back to seriousness - he turned the light humour into grotesque sarcasm. A bit of this later Beethoven style is already there in CPE's Fantasia.

to theheadplate-I'm not as committed as the users commenting here, but as far as I know JS was as influenced by baroque as advanced from his time-and surely there has been smo complaining about this. There's an evo performing overall in any field.
I listen to JS sons looking back to him and looking forward to romantic behaviour.
If you mean how great could have been listening to an enhancement of JS style
operated by CPE or any other member of his extended family..that's my wonder too!
Greetz.

you never rebelled against your parents?... ;)

CPE prepared the way for Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. I can't see what's wrong (or "unfortunate") with that :-)

It's just unfortunate that CPE Bach pioneered music away from what his Father devoted his life to.

Bach is the true father of expressive music

Yes, that's right. CPE Bach had created a totally new style of composing and he had great influence on Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven as well.
The sound of your piano matches perfectly
(better than some fortepiano, but without lose
stylistic coherence) this music.
The piano, but first of all your dry, clear
and expressive playing.

Thank you. It's interesting for me to hear people talk about "the sound of my piano" - since I think, the sound is a consequence of what I try to make it sound. And it is often very difficult for me to make the piano sound like I want it to sound for a special piece. If I succeeded here, that's very nice to hear :-)
