Due to the beautiful but windy day today with a high of 70 degrees I decided to take a little trip to Newton, KS to get some some trains coming off of the Arkansas City Subdivision. I ending up seeing four trains, I was hoping for a bit more than that, but it was a good trip either way.

Enjoy!

  • Could you maybe railfan in Independence,Ks someday please?

  • Maybe if im ever down in that area I'll try and find some tracks.

  • I like to eat my lunch there at the depot and watch the trains. The bike path at the old mill is a good spot too.

  • next time I come up there we will have to meet up at the depot or something, I'm from Hutch

  • So did any of our law enforcement friends come visit you while you were there?

  • Uhh no

  • Ahhh, Newton, sweet Newton.

  • i live in newton and go across those tracks everday. I swear to god every time i go to cross thow i get caught by a train.

  • OMG they fixed the crossings since last time I was there. I will be heading that way in a few weeks hopefully I will get some good shots.

  • either side of this damned track is the wrong side. build a a tunnel. i get sick of playing the newton race when i hear a train horn. sick of punching it down onto high street from main or hoping i can make it across broadway. screw it i'm moving the hell out of this God forsaken town. you can have it i dont want it.

  • I grew up in Newton on the wrong side of the tracks! Trains would occasionally make us late. Twenty five years later I love watching these videos! Thanks for taking the time. Akin

  • i saw that lead engine in your last clip in this video at joliet

PS: the bell sequence and the burnt out ditchligh reminded me of it

  • Just curious, if you love trains soo much have you ever tried to get a job there.

  • i love newton. the trains are awesome
