I had high hopes when the album Lateralus was released, but was totally bummed out when I heard The Grudge as the opening track. It has very few traditional "beats" and is all-in-all very unusual. In time, it has become one of my favorites to play due to the dynamics and constant changes. And, of course, who doesn't love the ending: my favorite of all Tool songs.

It is critical that every drummer develop their own unique style and interpretation. Therefore, I do not memorize any song exactly (although this is pretty close). I have spent 30 years playing drums and have developed my own style, which I prefer. I keep my playing within the framework of the song and will play a part exact if that part is either iconic (like Phil Collins In The Air Tonight) or critical to the success of the song.

Thank you for watching and lots of success drumming!!
