@MDbam No. he's doing very, very fast string crossings. At some points he is playing on three strings simultaneously

Shlomo Mintz is such an outstanding musician. His handling of this little etude is fresh & unique. The 14th is one that Perlman once dug his bow into while appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He made it look easy with his big, powerful hands. Musically speaking, however, I prefer this rendition. It does, in fact, resemble trumpets.
