The findings by the US based human rights group which puts journalists working in the South Asian region on a high risk is deeply worrying. Who can forget the high profile murder of the Sri Lankan editor of the Sunday Leader Lasantha Wickramatunga and Nepali reporter in Janakpur allegedly at the hands of the Maoists? The most recent killing of Pakistani TV reporter Musa Khan Khel who was shot dead in troubled Swat district amply justifies the findings of the committee which also cites another interesting fact. It states that some of the killings are a result of competitive rivalry as well. Whether its cross fire killing or a case of unhealthy competition the journalistic brotherhood must stand together in this tough hour.
