Canon FS200 Camcorder @ HIGHEST QUALITY

This is the Canon FS200 camcorder in it's "XP" mode rendered with Sony Vegas Pro 8 at maximum quality settings. I got this for $299 after shipping from Amazon.

The good: Works great outside, amazing zoom, compact, uses SD card, the pictures are decent, very easy to use, GREAT PRICE for the amount of performance.

The bad: Doesn't like artificial/low light or black objects(will ghost, the framerate drops, picture gets grainy), doesn't pick up fine details like hair(looks a bit matte at times).

What do you think about this camera's soundquality? If someone wants to record videos for youtube where he/she's singing, playing guitar etc, do you think it's worth buying it?

I just got one of these, the video on other media is much better. Even in HD, Youtube compresses the video stream to save space and bandwidth. So what you see here isnt the quality you will get elsewhere.

how did you convert the .mod?

this camera is great for recording live music, i've used this right next to a full stack amp and it didn't distort at all. very good live band recording or rehearsal recording and just turn the audio to mp3s

I copied the files to my mac and they show up as .mod and .moi files. imovie can't read it and I have no idea how to burn them to a dvd. Do you have any info or input on this?
