Catching a Huge Rat Snake on Wellesley Island

After a long day of hiking, I drove by a huge ass rat snake that was trying to cross the road on our drive back, so I did what any reasonable person would do, which is catch it and get some pictures of it, and then safely place it on the side of the road it was heading to so that nobody would run it over.

I'm pretty sure it's a rat snake, because the bottom of rat snake's are mostly white, while common water snakes are much darker and more of a tan/brown color, and the patterns on a water snake's back are the same color, but a much different design than the one's on this rat snake's back. Plus, water snakes are vicious little fuckers, and this snake only curled up once, but never tried to bite me at all. And on top of that, rat snakes are constrictors, and this snake clearly wrapped itself around my arm and squeezed pretty tightly.

@cookieuk Hahahaha, no shit buddy, the saved his life part was a joke. But oh dear lord, you're right, picking up a snake for 2 minutes, not harming him in any way, and then setting him down on the other side of the road must have traumatized him for life. Poor little guy probably had to go to a snake psychiatrist afterwards. I should really write him a letter of apology, I can only imagine how bad this event must have messed up his super-advanced psychological functioning.

nice catch dude! that is pretty big, the biggest snakes i find where i live are northern water snakes and rattle snakes that range from 2 ft to 5 ft but the biggest one iv caught was about 3
