Living Culture visits Karen and Joe Schueller, owners of Rain Shadow El Rancho. The Schuellers operate a 145-acre ranch in Scio, Oregon, raising buffalo, chicken, duck, rabbit, and turkey. Their animals are pasture-based, and grown without added hormones or antibiotics.
The Schuellers also operate Scio Poultry Processing, an 1,800 square foot on-site processing facility that is inspected by the USDA and Oregon Department of Agriculture. They do custom processing for individuals, and USDA processing for other small producers throughout Oregon.
Living Culture is a television series that showcases cuisine and agriculture in the Pacific Northwest. Our mission is to generate interest in local foods through inspiring and positive media. This series is broadcast on KWVT in the Willamette Valley, CGN7 in the Columbia Gorge; cablecast on Comcast cable in Portland and Salem; and syndicated on 3 websites.
