veronica219 is right. this car came a good deal before any of the z's. Dastun did work in conjunction with BMC, British Leyland, and Rover in the design of some cars. elements of which can be seen in the Datsun 240z and later, as evidence by the MG BGT, CGT, Triumph GT6, Austin Healey Sprite TFR, and 3000 coupe. so Japan got their tech from Brits. hate to condratict you Datsun fan boys but that's the truth. Datsun got a good genetic launching pad from them
it looks like a 240z. you know something. a lot of countrys copy designs off of japanese vehicles. look at ducati. a lot of there bikes have underseat exhaust pipes. and most people think ducati invented that. wrong. honda might not have invented it but back before ducati started putting exhausts under the seat. honda had already done that with the NR750. and theres a lot more vehicle companies that have copied japanese vehicle copanies ideas. no disrespect ment to other countrys.
Awesome.
Great to hear about BMC and Datsun working together.
I'm into Cooper S's and Skyline GTR's small world!

I have since found out that BMC made a few special 5 speed gearboxes for this very special car.

You are aware that this car pre-dates the 240z by about 5 years.
Also, Nissan worked with BMC (British Motor Corporation) back in the 60s.
Interestingly, Austin Healey made an experimental Coupe version of the 3000 that bears a striking resemblance to the later Datsun 240z.
