  • mrstudes, do you work for children's aid? Instead of taking the child away how about making a law against shops putting junk food at children's levels at the checkouts. Drug Stores, Grocerie stores, commercials on TV.

  • @HalinaJackowska that would probably do a lot to help the childhood obesity problem, but unless the child is sneaking out of school and shoplifting junk food without the parents knowing, I would say that in this case, for an 8 year old boy, the majority of the responsibility lies with the parent(s).

  • I think Parenting should be taught in the school curriculum , it's obvious there is a lack of parenting and no lack of love with this case. Being a single mom , I can only imagine how hard and complex shit can get raising a kid .... but one thing I do know , A Parent Is A Parent , not a kids best chum.

  • @mrstudes there are SO many things that should be taught in school that isn't. SO many life skills... self care, nutrition, financial management, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness... just for a start. But parents also have to take responsibility to educate themselves, because if parenting was taught in school, there would be a debate on what things to teach, since people have so many different views on child rearing. But it would be nice, wouldn't it? :)

  • I think there is much we do not know about this situation. But I tend to agree with you in that it appears his life may well be at stake.

  • @MichaelCrose yes, that's a good point. We don't know all the details. This could set a precedent for future extreme child obesity cases, though

  • consume is one thing , gorging yourself so you are 300%-400% more than average body mass, that is a disease and the reports said his life is in jeopardy . It sounds like you're a parent and I agree with you on something needs to be done about Junk Food . There was a

resent report that the American School Board is qualifying Pizza as a Vegtable . Wow , now that's educational ( Sarcasm )

  • @mrstudes Can anyone say that they have never consumed a product that is harmful to them? If the Government is going to forcefully remove children from their parents (those in children's aid, the medical field are all making their livings off of this child and his mother) then the junk food industry should be forced to stop marketing to those children.

  • @HalinaJackowska No children's aid in my career . If people stopped buying junk food and feeding junk food to their kids there wouldn't be a market for it . You're saying

regulate by Government and I'm saying Educate by Parenting . I'm not trying to be insulting . I do think it should be put on packages of most processed

foods , " "Excess Consumption May Cause Diabetes " , kinda like the ugly cancer pictures on cigarettes .... in Canada .

  • What, why is anyone saying "Let's not call her a bad parent"?

That bitch is a bad parent! The kid eats food she gives it.

Some people ought to be sterilized so they can never breed.

    But not by government mandate!

They ought to be responsible enough to know they don't deserve to breed b/c they are morons and sterilize themselves.

Then again, if they were responsible, they wouldn't have had a kid they're too retarded to take care of properly, would they.

Aah, the tangled webs we weave.

  • Putting him in Foster Care is criminal. He has a medical condition and needs to be in a hospital...

  • @SpiritualShow ya , it's a pile of opinion . But you say Nutrition taught in school , well that would be less of a debate as to what is right and wrong ... good one .

I'm gotta go now , make some juice with organic fruit and veg . thanks for the input
