William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Richard the Third", Act 1, scene 3, lines 215 to end, and Act 1, scene 4, lines 1-50

Ron Cook ... Richard III
Michael Byrne ... Duke of Buckingham
Paul Chapman ... Earl Rivers
Rowena Cooper ... Queen Elizabeth
Arthur Cox ... Lord Grey, Lord Mayor of London
Julia Foster ... Queen Margaret
Paul Jesson ... George, Duke of Clarence
Derek Farr ... Sir Robert Brakenbury, Earl of Surrey

Director: Jane Howell

Julia Foster is marvellous as Queen Margaret. It's great to see her playing this character through the entire four plays of "Henry VI" and "Richard III"--also true of many actors in this production.

Julia Foster (married to the celebrity veterinary Bruce Fogle) has acted very little since the early 90s. She is one of the leading experts in Britain on 18th and 19th century Scandanavian painted furniture, and has concentrated on running her shop devoted to selling these antiques:

  • This is why I freaking love english...

  • This ia a fantastic series. If you watch the BBC tapes in this order: Richard II, Henry IV pts. 1 @ 2, Henry V, Henry VI pts. 1,2 and 3 and Richard III, it plays out like one long miniseries because the same actors play the same roles across the plays. I've only seen Ron Cook in four other things.

  • Hey, he murders her son and her nephew and kills her eldest son in battle. She's bound to be a little upset, right? Time to let that Shakespearian contempt flow...
