  • The main tune is "Morrison's Jig" - a very well known tune and a lot more recent than Shkaespeare!

  • @boguspurr

Yes, I agree this tune is way more recent, I've read that Irish jig music came later. Thanks for the title, now I know. The rest of the songs in the show were written by Matt McGinn as far as I know. I performed two of them, and everyone except three people in the show were Scottish. We put the video up because the spirit is there and also so people can view these wonderful musicians.

  • Those tunes are Irish.

Was there any Scottish music in the concert? Any Matt McGinn?

  • All songs at the concert were written by Matt McGinn. This trad instrumental, I don't know who wrote it.

The jig was not, in its origins, particularly Irish. The English jig existed: in Shakespeare's time . There was (and is) the Scottish jig.By the 18thC for some reason the jig had become identified with Ireland, perhaps because it was out of fashion in England but survived there: So vigorous dances to this beat are ancient enough for no modern nation to have a pre-eminent claim to them.
