@xbm You are right on. They are two different sports. They are all fighters, MMA and Boxing, who sacrifice their lives and put their lives on the line each time they fight. They all put their heart and souls out there for all to witness. Peace, Bro.

@thaijunkie19 theres martial arts everywhere u dont need to watch a movie for that..they have tournaments for most the martial art. MMA just lacks certain things. Sure they use martial arts, but its mixed martials arts that means combining of Muay Thai, boxing, jiu-jitsu and other sorts of martial arts....so u cant compare bruce lee to mma when they dont even combine..

@dalastdon1432 No shit. Roberto Duran is the greatest lightweight of all time, and he beat Sugar Ray Leonard at welterweight, in his prime... convincingly. He was a bit long in the tooth when he fought Hearns.

This was the first pro boxing match I saw as a kid. My interest was ignited by seeing Rocky, he he. I can only say this about my impression, reality surpasses the poem. Problem was I thought every match was something like this. :-/

Point being that in the late 1800s and early 1900s, boxing was viewed as human cock fighting. Just as MMA is now. MMA shows nothing but respect to the sport of boxing, yet the boxing community always has something to say about MMA. MMA makes me feel so connected the people involved and is a huge part of my life, and any boxing fan should understand that feeling is universal, no matter what the sport.

Boxing had a huge impact on culture, a lot more than MMA had. BUT, MMA is only 20 years old. Boxing didn't make huge strides with guys like Robinson and Ali until decades later. And even now, MMA is full of guys who fight their hearts out. It's not a contest which is better.

I loved these two,I was lucky to be 8 yrs old during '76 olympics & to grow up during such a great era of boxing.
