  • this video is great and very helpful but there is one part that was left out that i dont know what to do. when you first start the braiding how do you start it? do you tie a knot? is there a loop? i dont know how to begin it. thanks.

  • Yep, you just tie a knot. It will be hidden in the coil when you start winding the rug.

  • WTF?

  • I noticed that you were sewing it together with a needle and thread, I tried it that way and now I am trying it with yarn on a needle, and it works much better than thread. To do it with yarn you put the needle through the loops on the braid to stitch them together. I found it is much easier to do it this way and a whole lot faster!! Just be careful not to make a bowl shape.

  • @purity4all not really, just don't use loose knits that will unravel when you cut them. If you use different types and thicknesses of fabric, you will want to cut the strips different widths. Knits you will want wider (because they stretch), cottons you will want average (they don't stretch much), and then some you will want thinner because they don't stretch at all (like most jean and khaki).

  • you don't tie a knot you join together two strips and make a T with the third,. Stitch the thrid down and start braiding.

  • Hey Love... My husband grew up making these with his mom and is teaching me.. I am 49 and He's 54 so he is trying to remember the steps from 40 years ago this was great! Keep making these videos!!!

  • Does it matter what kind of fabric you use?

  • @igirisuXjin thanks! :) God bless you!

  • @swason93 I have a rectangular one and it's made of many strips lined up next to each other rather than coiled round. So I guess, instead of one huge plate/twist, you could make around 50 smaller ones of the same size and sew them next to each other. I'm going to try my hand at both types. ^_^

  • best tutorial in a while... simple, straght forward, excellent... thanks and YHWH BLESS!
