This is irrelevant from what you said, but... (the Emancipation Proclamation only declared slaves free in the Confederacy, which didn't do anything considering at the time the Confederacy was pretty much its own Country that didn't take orders from Lincoln. Lincoln however did have the power to free slaves in slave-holding border states in the North that Lincoln did have the power to free. He only freed them at the end of the war.

that is mostly true, people keep saying he's the best ever or tied for the best candidate since Abraham Lincoln when people fail to realize that Lincoln was a racist and expressed a movement toward abolishing slavery only when he depended on it for the votes in 1864...but it isn't hard to do better or make better than the slip-ups of Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, or Carter.
