The Sea Shepherds have my respect, however they should start adding some torpedoes to their arsenal. That would solve the issue much quicker and save whale lives.

Yes yes, now people still argue about whale hunting and what not. But as each day passes many sea creatures are losing time they don't have.

@demianusa Japan is a bad example- they largely don't respect their quotas. That doesn't mean it's the same with every single country. Also fishing is another entire can of worms to begin with, it is in no way a viable alternative at all and if anything we're running out of fish. In 1990'ish newfoundland finally ran out of cod and there isn't a lot to stop the rest of the ocean from running out of fish either.

@gopherdude , Sorry for late reply but I don't buy your story. In the interview I have seen of Japanese people they admit that Whale meat is more of a delicacy. The Japanese don't actually rely on whale meat for meat consumption. There are plenty of other sources such as fish. They also eat other things such as soy beans that have all amino acids required by the human body. The fishermen cover it with "research" so their cover needs to be blown and put in jail until they learn!

This is in no way a black and white arguement.

Whaling is a much more effecient way for island nations like japan, australia, new zealand, iceland, etc to feed their citizens when raising livestock is too expensive or inneficient.

You can't stop whaling- the'll only do it illegally.

What you CAN do is support the International Whaling Commission so that the Quota's are respected and enforced.

@ecoeye You shouldn't be advocating boycotting.

You should be advocating self control and government regimented fishing companies so they can keep very specific tabs on fishing and whaling.

You can't just tell someone to flat out stop doing it- they're just going to do it illegal.

All you can do is keep an eye on them to make sure they're doing it correctly and they want you want them to do it.

The whalers threw a spear at the Sea Shepherds in an attempt to either hurt someone or puncture the inflatable and send everyone into the freezing ocean.

The Shepherds have never tried to harm any of them like that.

They were NOT defending themselves either. They were safe up in their big steel ship.

@demianusa By 2048 our oceans may be completly empty... I can't wait for the day when we don't need t oprotect the whales or any creatures for that matter. Goverenments do little to help so so somtimes yuo need to take matters into your own hands. I can't think of a single creature who deserves a harpoon through the head. & then to drown...
